Parmie breaks through in Sandown victory.

Connections of Parmie will weigh up whether to give the rising three-year-old her shot at spring carnival races after the talented filly broke through for her first win at Sandown.

Co-trainer Simon Zahra said they had initially thought Parmie, a daughter of stallion Snitzel, would be best-suited to sprint races but have discovered she has relished stretching out slightly further in distance at her past couple of starts.

Parmie finished off well from back in the field for a close third over 1300m at Geelong in her third career start before stepping up again to 1400m in Wednesday's Yulong Handicap for two-year-olds, which she won by a long neck.

Parmie ($6) defeated Presently with No Change another length away third.

"She's going to be an exciting filly, probably come the autumn," Zahra said.

"She's a work in progress. She's got a fair way to go yet and she looks like probably a mile won't worry her, and even beyond.

"We'll probably make some decisions today, I suppose , as to what we do now.

"Whether we go for a spell and come back for the spring or wait for the autumn.

"She's definitely got the ability, it's just whether mentally she is ready for it. Time will probably tell."

Jockey Dean Yendall said Parmie still showed some greenness in the straight in Wednesday's race but believes she will continue to improve with experience.
