Jockey Nash Rawiller has made an immediate impression on his return to riding after a long ban with a double at Kembla Grange.

Rawiller' had six rides at his first meeting since he was sidelined for 15 months for tipping horses he rode in Hong Kong.

Rawiller's first winner came aboard the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Escaped at his third ride for the day while his second was much easier aboard Decroux for Jason Deamer at his final ride.

Escaped just nudged out the Tommy Berry-ridden stablemate You Rang.

"We looked at each other on the line and neither one of us wanted to get too excited but I thought I had won, but wasn't too sure," Rawiller told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

After originally deciding to reignite his career in Victoria where his son Campbell has been accepted to the Victorian Apprentices Academy, Rawiller has made Sydney his home.

He has spent the lead-up to his return riding trackwork and barrier trials in NSW where he was able to get the paperwork processed sooner.

When Rawiller was outed his plans to come back to Australia were thwarted when he was detained at the Hong Kong airport.

He was stranded in Hong Kong without his passport and no idea whether the ICAC was going to charge him as they did with Chris Munce several years ago.

Rawiller's first metropolitan meeting will be at Rosehill on Saturday where he six rides on the nine-race card.

After a successful career in Victoria, Rawiller moved to Sydney in 2007 as stable rider for Waterhouse's Tulloch Lodge.

The 44-year-old won three Sydney jockeys' titles before going to Hong Kong in 2014.
