Foxy Housewife adds Rosehill win to record

Saturday 27 July 2019, 3:04pm

Foxy Housewife may have staved off a career in the broodmare barn with her win at Rosehill for new trainer Joe Pride.

Owned by BK Thoroughbreds, Foxy Housewife remained in Sydney after her recent unplaced effort in the Winter Stakes for Sunshine Coast trainer David Vandyke.

An $8.50 chance in Saturday's Pro IT Handicap (1350m), Foxy Housewife came from midfield to score a comprehensive 1-3/4 length win over Fortensky ($7.50).

"I haven't had to do anything but keep her ticking over for 13 days," Pride said.

"She came to me in great order from David and I couldn't believe her price.

"She was only a couple of lengths from Eckstein a couple of weeks ago and she is a Group One performer.

"The owners will decide whether she goes to stud in the new season or whether she keeps racing."

It was a homecoming of sorts for Foxy Housewife who began her career at Rosehill under Chris Waller.

Stella Sea Sun still has plenty of racing to do for Gerry Harvey and trainer Kris Lees with the filly winning the Refinity Handicap (1200m).

The three-year-old's record now stands at five wins and four placings from nine starts.

"She is a half-sister to Felines who was a stakes winner," Lees said.

"She is very adaptable and has a great attitude to racing but she has had a long preparation so we will think about what we do with her."
