Gailo Chop heads big Cranbourne trial noms

Thursday 1 August 2019, 3:18pm

A set of Cranbourne barrier trials will host a number of spring hopefuls as they prepare for their returns.

Gailo Chop is among several Group One horses set to step out on Monday with 28 heats to be run.

Now in the care of Matthew Williams at Warrnambool, Gailo Chop hasn't raced since finishing second to Winx in the 2018 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick.

Gailo Chop has undergone a long rehabilitation program from a tendon injury and has been entered in trials over 990m and 1190m.

Williams is planning three trials before Gailo Chop has his comeback run in the Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington on September 14.

Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained stablemates Humidor and Kenedna have also been entered in two trials over 800m and 990m.

Both formerly trained by now disqualified Darren Weir, Humidor is yet to race for Maher and Eustace while Kenedna won twice at Group One level for the stable during the autumn carnivals in Sydney and Brisbane.

Yet to race in Australia, French-bred import Neufbosc has been nominated for an 1190m trial.

Trained by Lindsay Park, Neufbosc is a three-time winner from eight starts in France and hasn't raced since running behind Enable in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp last October.
