Cheap yearling purchase Condo's Express has upstaged some of his more expensive rivals with a stylish win at The Valley.
A $3000 purchase at Scone in 2018, Condo's Express took his prize money to more than $90,000 when taking out Saturday's Seamus Mills Bloodstock Handicap.
Ridden by Linda Meech, Condo's Express ($8.50) scored by a length from Asateer ($5.50) with Memphis Rock ($5.50) a head away third.
Trainer Richard Laming said he expected to outlay at least $10,000 to purchase the yearling and was surprised when he secured him for just $3000.
Laming said Condo's Express was named after part-owner Garry Condon who owns Condo's Horse Transport.
"He did the bidding on him for me and it's been a great result," Laming said.
"It's his first preparation, he's had three seconds and now he can go to the paddock a city winner."
Meech, who won the Victorian jockeys' premiership last season, took over from Michael Walker after he couldn't make the 55kg allotted Condo's Express.
Laming said he didn't burden Meech with any instructions saying she's riding in great form.
"She needed some luck and got the luck in the straight," Laming said.
"Blinkers first time have switched him on and he's done the job."
