A lack of obvious speed and a seven-day back-up are questions trainer Tim Martin has ahead of Fibrillation's Winter Cup bid but a wet Rosehill track and the mare's ability could provide the right answers.

Fibrillation finished fifth, beaten 2-1/2 lengths, in last Saturday's Tatt's Cup (2200m) at Eagle Farm and held an entry to Saturday's Caloundra Cup.

But Martin and owner John Thompson decided to bring Fibrillation back to home territory for the Listed Winter Cup (2400m) where Blake Shinn will have the job of getting her into the right position to show her best.

"The issue is unless she settles she doesn't relax and there doesn't appear to be any speed in the race," Martin said.

"I'd like her to be able to get some cover otherwise she just burns herself up.

"She used too much petrol early in the Tatt's Cup and was on the fence where it was no good so it was better than it looked.

"She's got an awkward barrier (10) but if she can settle then she will get the 2400 metres and will be hard to beat."

Martin is in a rebuilding phase and says owners like Thompson who are willing to be patient for results are hard to come by.

The trainer says the BOBS bonus should be extended to include older horses.

"It is hard with everyone wanting their horses up and running early," he said.

"We need to entice owners to be patient with horses who require time.

"The BOBS bonus should cover five and six-year-olds as well as the younger horses."

The Martin-trained three-year-old Hunter Jack is eligible for the bonus and will stake his claim in the Significant Stakes (1900m) with Nash Rawiller aboard.

The winner of two of his nine starts, Hunter Jack finished a close second to Masahiko in his 1500m lead-up last Saturday week.

"He's a bit similar to Fibrillation in that he has to settle," Martin said.

"I know he handles the wet and the jockeys who have ridden him say he will get further so this race should suit him."

Rosehill passed a Friday inspection and will undergo another on race morning.

Up till the Friday inspection, Rosehill had received 118mm with little respite in sight.
