The Harrovian has become the biggest money earner in the one Queensland country race when he won the Far North Queensland Amateurs Cup in Cairns.
Starting a short priced $1.90 favourite, The Harrovian earned $87,000 for the win and got a $200,000 bonus after prevailing in the Townsville Cup and the Cairns Cup earlier in the campaign.
The Harrovian won the bonus for any horse that could secure three of the five staying or sprinting races held across Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns and FNQ Amateurs.
Trainer Steve Massingham said The Harrovian's win was a relief after months of racing.
"He's the best horse in North Queensland by panels I reckon," Massingham said.
"He can go to the paddock and we'll let the dust settle and let everything settle - we'll give him a good break and bring him back later on but then we'll head to Brisbane."
The Harrovian is raced by a syndicate headed by Tom Hedley who is a leading owner and administrator in North Queensland,
Another of his horses Follow Suit finished second to The Harrovian.
