A fall during a set of jump-outs has resulted in former apprentice Stephen Brown Jr being airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital in an induced coma.
Racing Victoria released a statement confirming the incident at Wangaratta in northeast Victoria on Wednesday.
"Stephen received immediate medical care from the on-course paramedic and was placed in an induced coma prior to transport," the statement said.
Brown is the son of trainer former Darwin trainer Stephen Brown who runs a stable at Seymour.
Brown Jr constantly faced weight battles because of his height and had his last ride at The Valley in November before retiring to become a registered track rider.
