Trainer Stuart Kendrick will be disappointed if Don't Waiver does not confirm his rating as one of the most improved horses in his stable when he runs at Eagle Farm.

The three-year-old races in Brisbane have been competitive at every meeting this season and Saturday's Dave Hickey 30 Handicap (1600m) is no different.

Kendrick is sure Don't Waiver is not out of place against some promising horses.

"There are at least three other horses in the race who the stables have wraps on so I am really looking forward to Saturday," he said.

Don't Waiver has won twice and been second at his three runs back from a spell.

Kendrick said Don't Waiver had improved a great deal from his first preparation and he had high hopes he would get further than 1600m eventually.

"He has got a bit of breeding about him being by Not A Single Doubt out of a Umatilla mare so he should handle an extra distance," Kendrick said.

"I had him in an 1800 metre race against older horses but elected to leave him in his own age group."

Don't Waiver could prove a bargain buy as he cost $80,000 at the 2018 Inglis Easter Sale but his sister by I Am Invincible went for $300,000 at the Magic Millions Sales.

"Don't Waiver was a big price when he won his last start at Eagle Farm and that surprised me a little. But we will see how he goes," Kendrick said.

Kendrick has put blinkers on stakes winning three-year-old Jagged Edge who takes on older horses in the Jim Beam Handicap (1000m).

"I don't really want to start him against older horses but there is nothing really for him for a few weeks," Kendrick said.

Jagged Edge, who won the Listed Dalrello Stakes in the winter, looked unlucky when fourth first-up at Eagle Farm two weeks ago.
