Stephen Brown Jr remains in ICU

Former apprentice Stephen Brown Jr remains in intensive care in a Melbourne hospital after a fall in a jump-out at Wangaratta.

Brown was was placed in an induced coma and flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital on Wednesday after the fall.

"Stephen Brown Jr remains under observation in the Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital," the Victorian Jockeys Association said on Sunday.

"He is off sedation and has movement in his limbs, however he is not yet conscious. He continues to receive the best of care."

Brown rode 40 winners during his apprenticeship when indentured to his father Stephen until increasing weight got the better of him.

His last race ride was at The Valley last November and he then became a registered track rider.
