Youth won out over age but if owner Nick Moraitis had his way it might have been the other way around in the Listed Winter Cup at Rosehill on Monday.

Moraitis, an owner who has collected some of racing's biggest trophies via the deeds of horses such as Might And Power and Vision and Power, celebrated a Winter Cup quinella with Destiny's Kiss and Fiumicino.

He bred the winner Destiny's Kiss but his most telling post-race analysis of the result focused on his veteran Fiumicino, the winner of an Australian Derby and a BMW in his prime.

With his 59kg, Fiumicino ($6) was no match for the finishing sprint of Destiny's Kiss ($3.30) as the favourite came from last to dominate the finish from the 200m, scoring by 2-3/4 lengths.

Moraitis is adamant the handicapper should show more respect to equine elders like Fiumicino.

"I think the weight they are putting on this horse is an absolute disgrace," Moraitis said.

"He's a nine-year-old now and they should take that into consideration. People like to come and see good horses run here but (the handicappers) have got to be a bit fairer and see what weight they have been carrying."

Whether Moraitis' argument is a fair one is open to debate because Fiumicino won the McKell Cup over Monday's course with 55kg - only 1kg over the limit weight - at his previous Sydney start before contesting the Brisbane Cup.

It could be Destiny Kiss' turn to head north in coming weeks with trainer Joe Pride nominating the Grafton Cup as a logical target for the stayer who has now won successive Sydney races.

"I would love to see him up in Grafton but in saying that I would like to see a soft track which might not be the case, " Pride said.

"We'll keep an eye on the weather and another eye on the horse."

Destiny's Kiss is following a familiar path to success after being switched from Melbourne trainer Robert Smerdon to Pride at Warwick Farm.

Vision And Power figured in the same stable change and was beaten in the 2008 Winter Cup and Grafton Cup before returning the next autumn to claim the George Ryder Stakes and the Doncaster Handicap.

The Winter Cup meeting, washed out on Saturday, was saved following an early morning track inspection.

It wasn't enough to help Chris Waller set a new record for training Sydney winners in a single season and the focus on his quest shifts to the Warwick Farm meeting on Wednesday.
