A pair of Group race winners are set to enhance a Flemington meeting on Saturday that offers almost $1 million prize money and the double opportunity of a stakes success.
Sea Lord, the winner earlier this year of the Group Two Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley, and Skytrain, a Group Three winner in Sydney are the standout runners at Flemington.
The two are entered for the All Victorian Sprint Series Final (1200m) and connections are expecting to pay up in the Listed event.
For trainer Stephen Brown, the opportunity of a rare winter stakes success is too good to pass up with Sea Lord.
"He's been a bit of a revelation," Brown said.
"He came to me in a package deal from David Payne in Sydney and he's won three races for us and is turned out to be the star of the team."
The Sprint Series final attracted only 12 entries when nominations closed on Monday and has been left open until Tuesday morning.
The Flemington card also includes the $150,000 Winter Championship Final (1600m)
in which last start Flemington winner The Cleaner has received topweight of 60kg but under the conditions of the race is in danger of missing a start.
