Racing Victoria stewards will take no action against trainer Lindsey Smith after concluding an investigation into Scales Of Justice.
Stewards opened an investigation into whether Scales Of Justice had any post-race condition which may have affected his performance in the Group One Maybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on September 14.
Scales Of Justice had won the Group One Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield two weeks earlier and was the $4 second favourite when fifth behind Gatting at Flemington.
Stewards interviewed Smith at Flemington last Wednesday with the trainer reporting the gelding had shown no abnormalities post-race.
Smith was of the opinion Scales Of Justice was at the end of his preparation as the horse had been in work for an extended period and was feeling the effects of racing.
The trainer has sent Scales Of Justice for a spell denying on Twitter suggestions the gelding had bled during the Makybe Diva Stakes.
Smith said Scales Of Justice would return in the autumn and he hoped to run the gelding in the Group One C F Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in February and the All-Star Mile (1600m), also at Caulfield, the following month.
