Caulfield Cup runner under injury cloud

Thursday 17 October 2019, 12:43pm

New Zealand Derby winner Crown Prosecutor will have to be re-examined on the eve of the Caulfield Cup as Neufbosc prepares for a float trip for a Racing Victoria veterinarian inspection.

RV reported the Stephen Marsh-trained Crown Prosecutor is lame in his right foreleg and will come under further scrutiny on Friday.

Vets completed inspections on Thursday on the 18 horses in the field for Saturday's 2400m race as well as three of the four emergencies.

Neufbosc, the second emergency for the Caulfield Cup, is currently stabled in Sydney where is he an acceptor for the St Leger Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

The Lindsay Park import will be sent to Melbourne on Friday to be inspected, RV said.

All other horses were passed fit to race.

If Crown Prosecutor is scratched, the Mike Moroney trained $101 chance Sound will gain a start.
