Casino Prince & Husson Move to Vinery

Friday 5 July 2013, 12:31pm

CASINO PRINCE AND HUSSON MOVE TO VINERY.

In another astute move, Vinery has bolstered their blue blood stallion roster by successfully securing last year’s Champion First Season Sire Casino Prince and leading First Crop Sire of 2yo Winners Husson (ARG).

Standing alongside proven stallions such as More Than Ready, Testa Rossa, Congrats and Mossman, these exciting young stallions will be a further injection to the Vinery roster.

The son of former Australian Champion Sire Flying Spur, Casino Prince was a talented juvenile winning  on three occasions, including the Group 2 AJC Skyline Stakes. He returned as a three year old to win the Group 3 Alister Clarke Stakes over 1600m at Moonee Valley in a slick 1:36.38, before training on as a four year old to defeat Tuesday Joy in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes, also over 1600m.

Crowned Champion First Season Sire by Earnings in 2011-12, the stock of Casino Prince have developed even further as three year olds of the current season and as a result he is currently $2.5million clear of his nearest rival in the 2nd Seasons Sires title.

Amongst his first crop stakes winners are multiple Gr.1 Winner All Too Hard who will stand his first season at Vinery this season, Group 1 South Australian Derby winner Escado, Group 2 winner Longport and recent Group 3 winner Sookie.

Husson, a son of eight time Champion sire Hussonet was undefeated as a racehorse and was a former Champion 2yo and Miler in Chile, having won three Group 1 races.

Imported to Australia in 2008 Husson was rewarded with a Stakes Winner from his very first Australian runner when daughter Hussousa won the ATC Gimcrack Stakes. He was represented with a further 10 individual winners in that first season and was Champion First Season Sire by winners for the 2011-12 season.

In June his daughter Peron, a winner of six of her eight starts became his eighth individual stakes winner from just two crops of racing age when she won the Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic.

“Both Stallions will add great depth to the Vinery team”, said Vinery Stud General Manager Peter Orton.  “Real success can only ever be measured by results on the racetrack and these stallions have clearly demonstrated their capabilities. As sires in their first season at stud they respectively took out both the First Season Sire titles by Earnings and Winners".

"Both stallions have outstanding crops coming through after receiving large books of mares over the past three to four years, including  some of the best mares in the Patinack Broodmare Band.”

Casino Prince will stand the 2013 season at a fee of $22,000 GST inclusive while Husson will stand at $16,500 GST inclusive.     Read more
