Purroni a long-term prospect for Gollan

Expensive filly Purroni won't be following in the footsteps of her older sibling for a Magic Millions tilt but trainer Tony Gollan predicted her time will come in feature races.

Purroni ($2.10) made it two wins in a row when she streamed away to win by four lengths in an open three-year-old race at Doomben.

A $550,000 buy at the 2018 Magic Millions Yearling Sales, Purroni is by top sire Pierro out of the broodmare Pure Purrfection, making her a half sister to Gollan's top filly Outback Barbie.

The winner of $664,000 in prize money Outback Barbie finished third in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and Magic Millions Guineas.

Gollan said Purroni had improved with each run this campaign but was still a good way off reaching her best.

"She won't be ready for the Magic Millions Guineas but I think she will be up there next autumn and winter," Gollan said.

"She is by Pierro who has been getting winners out to middle distances and I think Purroni will get at least 1600m."

"She will run in town on Saturday fortnight and that will probably dictate where we eventually head."

Trainer Kelly Schweida resumed an association with broodmare Call Me Paris when Victory Liner ($26) caused an upset by beating short-priced favourite Amiche ($1.30).

"Victory Liner probably didn't deserve to be that price on her overall form. I trained her dam Call Me Paris and she was more than handy," Schweida said.

Amiche didn't have much luck and her jockey Michael Hellyer felt she should have nearly won.

Hellyer and her trainer David Vandyke had earlier combined with McCovey Cove ($3.80) who scored an impressive maiden win.

"They have run a class record (1.09.88) so I am sure he is a future Saturday winner," Vandyke said.
