Tony Gollan with first 2yo at Eagle Farm

Premier Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan will rely on filly Starosa as he begins to roll out his two-year-olds for the new season at Eagle Farm.

Gollan sent Starosa and well-bred juvenile Aventurine to trial at the Sunshine Coast on Tuesday.

He was happy with the performance of Starosa but believed Aventurine, who is related to Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily, would need another trial before racing.

Gollan had entered both for Saturday's QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1000m) on Saturday but after the trial decided to rely on Starosa.

"She has had two trials and is fit. She had drawn barrier one and gets in with a nice weight after Baylee Nothdurft's 1-1/2 kilo claim," Gollan said.

Starosa is by internationally performed stallion Starspangledbanner and is eligible for the Magic Millions Classic in January.

Gollan has more than 40 two-year-olds on his books and will ease many into racing in coming weeks.

"We have some really nicely bred horses to race this season so I am looking forward to it," Gollan.

The racing season is only three months old but Gollan is well on his way to his seventh straight metropolitan premiership.

He will again have a strong hand on Saturday with 10 runners but has Capital Connection from the Open Handicap (1000m).

"The 1000 metres looked ideal for him but he drew very wide. There is a race for him next week at 1200," he said.

The stable's top sprinter Zoustyle has gone for a spell after being found to have a throat ulcer after being unplaced at Caulfield last week.

"He can have a break and we will bring him back for the autumn probably in Melbourne," Gollan said.
