Mr Quickie passed fit to run at The Valley

Friday 25 October 2019, 1:27pm

The Phillip Stokes-trained Mr Quickie has been passed fit to race on Cox Plate day at The Valley in either the feature race if he gains a start or the Moonee Valley Gold Cup.

Mr Quickie had to be re-examined by a Racing Victoria veterinarian on Friday after presenting with lameness in his left front leg on Thursday.

The second emergency for Saturday's $5 million Cox Plate was passed fit to race on Friday.

Mr Quickie is entered for Saturday's Moonee Valley Gold Cup (2500m) should he not gain a start in the Cox Plate.

The four-year-old and Cox Plate first emergency Humidor are both in the Moonee Valley Gold Cup field.

Mr Quickie was the $2.60 favourite for the Moonee Valley Gold Cup on Friday with Humidor at $4.20.

The other two Cox Plate emergencies, Gailo Chop and Dream Castle, are in Saturday's Group Two Crystal Mile (1600m).
