Speedy Capital Connection will get his chance against some of Queensland's best short-course horses after his runaway win at Eagle Farm.
Capital Connection lived up to his $1.60 starting price with a 4-1/4 length win over Truculent ($41) in the Mt Alvernia College Plate (1000m).
The gelding clocked 56.88 which was a class record and just outside the course record of 56.13.
Trainer Tony Gollan said Capital Connection would now head to the Sunshine Coast in a fortnight for a $105,000 open handicap where he will meet top sprinters including Tarzan, Meet Mr Taylor and possibly Darktown Strutter.
"Since we took the tongue tie off him he has been really rocketing out the boxes. I once thought he would be a 1400m horse but now we will keep him to around 1000m," Gollan said.
