Bobby El-Issa's attempt to rebuild his career has hit another hurdle after he was suspended for the second time within a week for careless riding.
At Doomben last Wednesday El-Issa was outed for seven meetings for careless riding.
He pleaded guilty to the same charge at Eagle Farm on Saturday for causing Tiger Jet (Paul Hammersley) and Beijing Dancer (Sam Clipperton) to be checked at the 1000-metre mark in the Robert Bax and Associates Handicap when he rode That Snow Athlete.
El-Issa was due to resume riding on July 17 but Saturday's eight meetings suspension means he won't return until July 29.
He asked stewards for leniency because he is trying to resurrect his riding career.
"I'm a single father paying rent and I'm doing it tough living week to week," El-Issa told stewards.
His request for the suspensions to be served concurrently was rejected.
"The interference isn't good and not only have you affected the chances of those runners, you've placed the safety of their riders at risk for a few strides," steward Daniel Aurisch said.
A dramatic day for Michelle Payne ended with a $200 fine from stewards for celebrating her Queensland Cup victory aboard Turner Bayou before the winning post.
Payne lost an earlier race on protest aboard Micken but avoided a suspension for causing interference to Viking Heart and Empress Me.
Run With Me and Dalzar bled for the second time, resulting in lifetime racing bans.
