Jumps jockey Tom Ryan will appeal a ban which will keep him out of Sunday's Crisp Steeplechase meeting at Sandown.
Ryan was issued with a suspension beginning on Monday and expiring on July 21 for not retiring Hempstead from a race at Casterton.
After landing awkwardly after the second-last jump and becoming unbalanced, Hempstead then fell at the last obstacle.
The rule under which Ryan was found guilty states that "a rider in a steeplechase or hurdle must immediately retire their horse from the race where, in the circumstances, if the rider were to continue riding the horse, such conduct would cause an increased risk of a fall to the horse or rider, or other horses or riders".
Racing Victoria stewards said after the incident at the second last jump, it was reasonable that Ryan should have pulled him out of the race.
