Promising filly Dusty Tycoon can add another piece to the Magic Millions 2YO Classic puzzle and create a bit of history at Doomben.
Dusty Tycoon will be assured of a place in the $2 million Magic Millions Classic field on January 11 if she wins or runs second in Saturday's $125,000 Two-Year-Old Plate (1100m).
Syndicates owning feature race runners is nothing new but Dusty Tycoon has 1000 owners which would be a record for a horse in any major race.
Dusty Tycoon is raced by a MiRunners syndicate which is set up to allow small shareholders a chance to race a well-bred horse.
The syndicate has the backing of Racing Queensland and it has already created plenty of interest.
The filly's trainer Robert Heathcote believes a Millions win is no pipe-dream after Dusty Tycoon won on debut at the Sunshine Coast.
"She has done everything we have asked to date but this Saturday is her big test," Heathcote said.
"It has been a great idea to get so many people involved. When she won at the Sunshine Coast the roar started at the 300 metre mark and didn't stop until five minutes after the race."
Dusty Tycoon has won $42,700 prize money and the $72,500 first prize on Saturday will be more than enough to guarantee a Millions place.
A $160,000 yearling, Dusty Tycoon is by Written Tycoon who sired the 2016 Magic Millions winner Capitalist.
One person hoping Dusty Tycoon wins on Saturday and then the Magic Millions is official track photographer Grant Peters.
"Imagine if 1000 people buy a Magic Millions finish photo," he said.
