Trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra will take advantage of the off-season with lightly raced Somals at The Valley as they bid to improve her racing manners.
The winner of her only two races, Somals runs in the Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap (1200m) on Saturday.
Somals was successful over 1106m at Benalla when trained by Craig Widdison in September before landing a betting plunge at The Valley on November 22 at her first run for Ellerton and Zahra when ridden by Dwayne Dunn.
The filly had been scheduled to run at The Valley for Ellerton and Zahra on November 1, but was scratched at the barriers.
With Dunn committed to Three Beans for Hawkes Racing, Dean Yendall has secured the ride on Somals on Saturday.
Zahra described Somals as "progressive" adding the stable was in no rush to push the filly to a higher grade in the immediate future, confident that in time she will get there.
"She did a lot wrong the other night and she probably needs more racing to learn what it's all about," Zahra said.
"Hopefully the back-up calms her down a bit and she doesn't get herself too wound up, but it wasn't a tough run the other night as she got out late and hit the line quite well.
"Dwayne got off her and said don't throw her in the deep end too much, so we'll keep her around this level and see what happens in the autumn.
"She's got a good engine, so hopefully she can channel her energy a bit better."
Somals was the favourite on Friday to remain unbeaten but was being pressed by the Patrick Payne-trained Rubisaki, at $3.10.
