The transformation of Loaded during his Queensland campaign has convinced trainer Grant Allard to back him up in Saturday's Tattersall's Mile at Doomben.
The Tattersall's Mile wasn't on the racing agenda for Loaded until the ease of the gelding's Eagle Farm win last Saturday convinced Allard to extend his visit.
"The race he won at Eagle Farm was his target up here and the Tatt's Mile is an afterthought but he's thrived in Brisbane," Allard said.
"He's probably doing better up here than he does at home and I think it's a natural progression for him to run in this race."
Loaded finished off the 1500m strongly at Eagle Farm and Allard insists the extra journey on Saturday will be even more suitable.
"He's won most of his races at the mile which is his pet trip," he said.
"I've got a high opinion of the horse. I think there's a nice race in him and I'm hoping he can show that on Saturday."
The gelding handled a slow track at Eagle Farm last Saturday but Allard is hoping for a firmer surface at Doomben.
"He won nicely the other day but he's far better on top of the ground and because he's taking on Listed company for the first time I'd prefer a better surface than slow for him," he said.
"Apart from that I couldn't be happier with him. He's pulled up in fantastic shape and I'm more than happy to be going around again."
Allard is based at Gosford and took out his trainer's licence five years ago after working for John Hawkes.
He has fond memories of his time at Crown Lodge when he was the strapper of horses of the calibre of champion Lonhro and Group One winner Viscount.
Tim Bell will ride Loaded in the Tattersall's Mile replacing apprentice Sam Clipperton who has elected to stay in Sydney to ride at Warwick Farm.
