Connections of Sky Lantern are considering appealing the result of the Falmouth Stakes.
The Richard Hannon-trained filly, winner of the 1000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes, was beaten a neck by Elusive Kate at Newmarket on Friday but was carried across the track as the winner hung left in the hands of William Buick.
A lengthy stewards' inquiry ensued but the placings remained unaltered although Buick was suspended for three days for careless riding.
Speaking at Newmarket on Saturday, assistant trainer Richard Hannon jnr said an appeal was being considered.
"It's up to the owner. I don't know what they're going to do," Hannon said.
"We'll talk to Ben (Keswick, owner) and see what we decide.
"It's under consideration anyway."
Buick told At The Races the result was never in doubt.
"We could have gone another mile and the second would not have got past me," he said.
"There's going to be a lot of opinions but she won the race."
A BHA spokesperson confirmed any appeal would have to be lodged by the close of play on Monday.
