Curragh nom for O'Brien-trained Australia

Tuesday 16 July 2013, 11:01am

Australia could make his second racecourse appearance in the opening maiden on Irish Oaks day at the Curragh this weekend.

As a son of brilliant Galileo and out of multiple Group One-winning mare Ouija Board, Aidan O'Brien's juvenile could hardly be better bred.

He made his first public appearance in what has traditionally been a good maiden for the O'Brien team at the Curragh on Derby weekend and shaped with great promise, going down by just a neck to Jim Bolger's Renaissance Art after losing around five lengths on the winner when completely missing the break.

Australia is likely to be a warm order if he does turn out for Saturday's European Breeders Fund Maiden, although O'Brien has four other entries.
