Nine Sydney races rank in world's top 100

Thursday 23 January 2020, 6:16pm

The Queen Elizabeth Stakes remains the highest rated race in Australia and equal sixth best in the world following the latest rankings at the World's Best Race and Racehorse awards.

It is the third year in succession the Group One Randwick feature, which Winx won at her final start last year, has been named the highest rated race in Australia.

The Queen Elizabeth was among nine Sydney races ranked in the world's top 100 at the international awards ceremony this week.

Also making the cut was the Chipping Norton Stakes, TJ Smith Stakes, Doncaster Mile, Golden Rose, George Ryder Stakes, Colgate Optic White Stakes, Ranvet Stakes and the Winx Stakes.

Australian Turf Club general manager of racing, wagering and international James Ross said the ratings showed Australian racing was strong.

"These international race ratings continue to demonstrate the great strength and depth of Sydney's world-class racing across a range of distances," Ross said.
