Wohler wants Moore for Novellist at Ascot

Ryan Moore is expected to partner Novellist for the second time when the German raider contests the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday week.

Moore guided Andreas Wohler's four-year-old to an impressive victory in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud last month, where he beat the globetrotting Dunaden and, most notably, the world's highest-rated racehorse, Cirrus Des Aigles.

"So far it is still the plan for him to go to Ascot for the King George and he came out of his race at Saint-Cloud really well," Wohler said.

"He took the race well and has been working well since, so it is very exciting.

"The King George will be a tough race and another step up from Saint-Cloud, so we will see what happens.

"Ryan (Moore) is hopeful he will be able to ride the horse again. When he is available, he is Ryan's ride."

Novellist is once again set to cross swords with Cirrus Des Aigles at Ascot, with the latter expected to improve appreciably for what was his first start in eight months.

Ed Dunlop's Red Cadeaux could also be in opposition at Ascot, although his participation will depend on the weather.

Red Cadeaux, winner of last year's Hong Kong Vase and runner-up in the Dubai World Cup this term, is not a certain runner.

"Red Cadeaux worked very well this morning and is in great form," Dunlop said.

"We want to run in the King George but it will be ground dependent as we wouldn't want it too firm.

"We will make a decision next week."
