Mighty incentive awaits injured Harrison

Wednesday 29 January 2020, 5:09pm

Injured jockey Tegan Harrison has an extra reason to get back to riding after Mighty Mittere scored a freakish win at the Gold Coast.

Trained by Harrison's partner Ben Hull, Mighty Mittere ($13) came from about eight lengths off the leaders to win the Brian Forman Handicap (900m).

Few horses can give a huge start at the Gold Coast 900m and win, underlining the merit of the win.

"He is a grade five wind roarer and has had an operation. He works like a top horse and on his day he is," Hull said.

Mighty Mittere is headed back to Saturday Brisbane racing and Hull would love Harrison to ride him.

Harrison has been out injured for three months after a fall at Doomben.

"Tegan is at the doctors today and she hopes to get the all clear to resume riding," he said.

Lady Solerno earned herself and her owner-trainer a holiday with an all-the-way win the Hideway Kitchen and Bar Handicap (1800m).

The mare is trained by Ron Cameron who has three horses at Hendra in Brisbane's racetrack district.

Lady Solerno's last win was at Murwillumbah in March last year but she has shown above average ability.

In her maiden win she beat Charnely River who later was Group One placed and won in America.

"But that can wait as she is going for a spell and we are going on holidays to Japan, "Cameron said.

Top jockey Ryan Maloney bounced back from a bout of illness to land heavily backed Sea Raider who firmed from $8 into $3.90 in a maiden.

Maloney had to forgo two winning rides last Saturday when he took ill at the Sunshine Coast.
