Japanese horse added to Aust Cup entries

Friday 7 February 2020, 5:35pm

The Japanese-trained Suzuka Devious is a late entry for the Australian Cup after being left out of nominations because of a clerical error by Racing Victoria.

Trained by Mitsuru Hashida, Suzuka Devious remained in Australia after the spring carnival.

He has been residing at Matt Cumani's stable in the care of Hashida's staff.

Suzuka Devious was unplaced in three runs during the spring in the Group One Caulfield Stakes and Group One Mackinnon Stakes and $500,000 Listed Ballarat Cup.

RV said the horse was expected to resume in the Group Two Peter Young Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield on February 22, a traditional lead-in to the Australian Cup two weeks later.
