Mixed success for Berry, Rawiller

Thursday 20 February 2020, 4:14pm

Tommy Berry has had a win in his appeal against a riding suspension with the Racing NSW Appeal Panel overturning his 15-meeting penalty.

The top jockey was outed by stewards for failing to ride out Kentucky Wildcat in a race at Warwick Farm on Inglis Millennium day, a suspension which would have cost him some plum rides in the coming weeks.

Berry took his case to the Racing NSW Appeal panel on Thursday and successfully had the suspension quashed, leaving him free to concentrate on Saturday's Rosehill meeting where his mounts include Cellsabeel in the Silver Slipper.

He is also able to ride Happy Clapper in the Group One Chipping Norton Stakes on Saturday week.

Fellow rider Nash Rawiller was not as lucky in his appeal against a two-pronged suspension incurred at the same meeting and will miss the ride on Dreamforce in the Chipping Norton.

Rawiller was charged with careless riding aboard Marnix in the $2 million Inglis Millennium and for breaching the whip rule on Rari in the Inglis Sprint-3YOs on the February 12 program.

He can return on March 1.
