Seeker all Quality with Eagle Farm victory

Saturday 22 February 2020, 2:42pm

Much-travelled Quality Seeker looks to have found his niche in Queensland after a runaway win at Eagle Farm.

Trained by the Melbourne-based Ciaron Maher-David Eustace partnership, Quality Seeker ($1.90) scored a 3-1/4 length win over Breakdance ($3.20) in the Trump Flooring Plate (2200m).

Quality Seeker's previous 16 starts had been in England, Victoria and NSW and it has become clear he goes best the clockwise way.

Maher and Eustace decided to send him to a big clockwise track in Eagle Farm where the Saturday company over middle-distance races are easier.

The decision proved right and Quality Seeker strode to the lead and never looked like getting beaten.

Winning jockey Matt McGillivray said he had been able to take the lead without much trouble and that had proved a winner.

"We got a couple of easy sectionals and he did it easily from there," McGillivray said.

Quality Seeker is now likely to back up in another 2200m race at Eagle Farm in a fortnight.
