Owner/breeder Trevor Stuckey dies

Tuesday 10 March 2020, 6:14pm

Respected racehorse owner Trevor Stuckey has died aged 91 in Sydney.

Stuckey raced horses with the suffix "To Win" most notably multiple Group One winner Racing To Win.

A crowd favourite, striking grey Racing To Win was trained by John O'Shea to five top-level victories including the 2006 Doncaster Handicap.

After O'Shea went to Godolphin, Stuckey and his long-time partner Penny Yan raced horses with Peter and Paul Snowden, most notably 2014 Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting To Win.

Nicknamed "Lucky Stucky" after his many Group One successes, Trevor took a liking to horses from a young age and Yan said he had his first punt at the age of eight.

After a brief stint as a harness racing driver, Stuckey became a bookmaker then a successful thoroughbred owner and breeder.

He will be farewelled at a funeral service on Friday.
