Prov Championship heat called off at Wyong

Saturday 28 March 2020, 6:21pm

A new timeslot will have to be found for the Provincial Championship qualifying heat at Wyong after the race was washed out.

After running the first seven events on Saturday's card, heavy rain left racing officials with little option but to postpone the $150,000 feature.

Jockeys riding at the meeting felt it was unsafe to continue due to poor visibility.

It is the second time a qualifying heat on the central coast has been affected by wet weather with a heat at Gosford scheduled for March 14 postponed to Newcastle five days later.

A full field of 16 had been due to contest Saturday's Wyong qualifier with the first three across the line to have booked their spots in the Final at Randwick next month.
