A timely win for Stewart Barr at Doomben

Wednesday 22 April 2020, 3:40pm

Promising three-year-old Shadow Of Time looks to be the perfect horse for Caloundra's Stewart Barr to headline a new training partnership with his daughter.

Shadow Of Time ($2.15) confirmed his ability with an easy win in the Mossman Three-Year-Old Handicap (1350m) at Doomben.

Barr is a well-known owner in Queensland with some top-class gallopers including Shadow Of Time's dam Endless Shadow who won the 2015 Magic Millions fillies and mares race.

He has also trained from Wondai in the Burnett region and more lately at Caloundra.

"The Hulberts (Peter and Will) have had a lot of horses for us and still have a couple," Barr said.

"But I have 11 boxes at Caloundra and Shadow Of Time is leading the way."

Barr said his daughter Katie helped him and once she completed her paper work they hoped to have a training partnership.

Shadow Of Love is by the now defunct sire Time For War who Barr had a share in.

Jockey Sean Cormack continued his successful comeback with a winning double on two-year-olds Aviemore ($9) and Hamilton Hill ($3.40).

South African Cormack has ridden all over the world but settled on the Sunshine Coast three years ago.

He battled a knee injury to return to riding and has since linked with former champion jockey Jeff Lloyd as his manager.

Cormack 's double gave him 44 winners in the past year.

"Sean can get a horse out quickly from the barriers which is a big start around Doomben," Aviemore's trainer Barry Lockwood said.

Aviemore was having his first start but had trialled well winning a recent heat at Deagon.

The gelding is a $150,000 son of top sire Written Tycoon out of the stakes-winning mare Octavia.
