Miller hopes for rain for Zingalong

Thursday 23 April 2020, 11:43am

Caloundra's Trevor Miller is one trainer who will not mind if rain hits the Sunshine Coast meeting.

Miller has Zingalong taking on some of Queensland's best juveniles in Saturday's QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1000m).

The weather bureau is forecasting a 20 per cent chance of rain on Saturday and Miller is hoping for the long shot to come in.

Zingalong won his only start on a Sunshine Coast track which was so heavy the meeting was abandoned after the race.

Miller admitted the more it rained the more confident he felt with Zingalong who will again be ridden by Dale Smith.

"He trialled really well on a heavy track and I had no doubt he would handle it," Miller said.

"A bit of rain on Saturday wouldn't do him any harm."

Zingalong is by multiple Group One winner Falvelon who is now in semi-retirement as a stallion.

"Falvelon can still get a winner and I have always liked the breed," Miller said.

The former leading trainer at the Sunshine Coast, Miller has cut his team back in recent years but will still have a handy representation on Saturday.

He will also saddle Victory Eight (Open Handicap) and Better Lad and Devil (2YO Maiden).

"Victory Eight is starting to get back to somewhere around his best and he goes well this track and distance," Miller said.

"Better Lad and Devil both trialled well before failing at Doomben but they are down in class and up in distance.

"I have put blinkers on Better Lad but he is drawn wide."
