Premier trainer Tony Gollan is confident Doomben winner Liza With A Zee will soon attract attention for her black-type performances rather than her racing colours.
Two-year-old filly Liza With A Zee ($1.80) lived up to Gollan's big opinion of her with a 3-1/2-length win against older horses in a maiden (1050m).
Liza With A Zee was having her first run since she was a well-beaten ninth behind top filly Gotta Kiss at her first start in December.
"I have always had a big opinion of her but we probably made a mistake running her in December," Gollan said.
"She came back from a break a stronger filly. Not many two-year-olds beat older horses at their second start."
Liza With A Zee is nominated for the Group One JJ Atkins on June 6 but is unlikely to run.
"She is more likely to run in a Listed race at Doomben in two weeks. I think she is definitely a Saturday horse and black-type is also on the cards," Gollan said.
A $150,000 Magic Millions yearling by top sprinter Zoustar, Lady With A Zee is raced by an all-women's syndicate including Gollan's sister Zoe and his wife Jane.
"The ladies came up with the colours hence she races in leopard print with salmon sleeves and cap," Gollan said.
"The colours certainly are a talking point. Hopefully one day the talk will also be about Lady With A Zee's stakes racing."
Gollan produced another promising two-year-old in Corvo ($2.80) who won the TAB Plate (1350m).
Corvo is by Gollan's former multiple Group One winner Spirit Of Boom and is raced by one of his biggest owners, Eureka Stud.
"Corvo is entered for the JJ Atkins but he is likely to go for a spell," Gollan said.
