Jamie Kah has had a debut season jockeys only dream about.
She's 17, an apprentice, and in her first full season of riding yet the quietly-spoken Kah has taken all before her in Adelaide to become the first female apprentice to win a senior premiership on the Australian mainland.
In 1982, Bev Buckingham won the Tasmanian title, also as a 17-year-old in her second season of riding.
Kah notched 41 metropolitan victories to win the Adelaide jockeys' premiership, three ahead of second placed hoop Paul Gatt.
"It's been an incredible season - it really hasn't hit me yet," Kah told Melbourne's RSN radio.
She thanked her master, trainer John Macmillan, for giving her her first ride at Clare which encouraged other trainers to give her mounts.
She is hoping next year to ride in Melbourne for a few months while at the same time finishing her apprenticeship in South Australia.
"It's every jockey's dream to ride in the Melbourne Cup so hopefully that will come," she said.
