Apprentice in hospital after Pakenham fall

Tuesday 9 June 2020, 6:00pm

Apprentice Kiran Quilty will spend the night in hospital following a race fall at Pakenham.

Quilty completed the course aboard The Real Wasabi in a maiden race on Tuesday, but her mount clipped heels after the winning post and fell.

After being assessed on track, Quilty was transported to Dandenong hospital for further tests.

Victorian Jockeys' Association chief executive Matt Hyland said Quilty was suffering concussion.

"Her scans are OK but they want to keep her in overnight just to keep an eye on her and she is likely to released in the morning," Hyland said.

Quilty commenced riding in February and has three wins to her credit from 48 rides.
