Randwick course proper barrier trials on Friday have again confirmed the strength of Gai Waterhouse's spring team.
Waterhouse had 13 runners in two heats and it was the horse she trains for the Queen, Carlton House, who emerged as a standout of the morning.
Carlton House, lining up for his second serious public gallop inside seven days, looked sharp as he cleared a pocket in the straight to win the 1400m trial by two lengths.
He beat Fiorente but last year's Melbourne Cup runner-up lost few admirers as he brushed home from the back of the field after being slow to begin.
The Metropolitan winner Glencadam Gold ran the minor placing.
Waterhouse runners also dominated a 1000m trial with No Looking Back beating stablemates Fast Clip and Ashokan.
The heat also featured Hay List, the Group One-winning sprinter who finished fifth in the second trial of his preparation.
Rain Affair ran the fastest time of two 800m course proper trials, burning off his rivals in 47.2s to post a 9-1/4 length winning margin over this year's Golden Slipper runner-up Sidestep.
Kuroshio, who ran down the track in the Golden Slipper, ran one second slower in winning his 800m hit-out which included multiple Group One winner Appearance, comeback galloper Metal Bender and Victoria Derby aspirant Drago.
