Sky in 10-year deal with Queensland racing

Thursday 30 July 2020, 1:04pm

An agreement for Sky Racing to provide coverage of Queensland's three racing codes for the next 10 years has been finalised.

The deal between Sky and Racing Queensland was due to be confirmed by the end of June but negotiations were extended for a month.

The Brisbane Racing Club had already signed an agreement with Sky to continue its coverage of Doomben and Eagle Farm meetings.

Thursday's breakthrough means Sky will cover all Queensland TAB thoroughbred, harness racing and greyhound meetings for the next 10 years.

Sky Racing, owned and operated by Tabcorp, will have exclusive rights to televise across hotels, clubs, TAB agencies, paid streaming channels and digital platforms.

"There were a number of outcomes we were determined to achieve - most notably increased distribution, showcasing and revenue - and that's exactly what we've been able to secure for our clubs," Racing Queensland chairman Steve Wilson said.
