South Australian sprinter Gytrash has arrived in Sydney and will make his first local appearance in a barrier trial at Warwick Farm.
The Group One Lightning Stakes winner became the third horse confirmed for a slot in the $15 million The Everest last week, joining Nature Strip and Classique Legend.
Trainer Gordon Richards and Gytrash endured a long road trip to get to Sydney from Adelaide, forced to bypass Victoria due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The sprinter will be the headline act when he steps out in an 800m heat at Warwick Farm on Friday, alongside the Joe Pride-trained Fasika, who is in the mix to earn an Everest slot.
Jason Collett has been booked to ride Gytrash in The Everest and he will put the horse through his paces at Warwick Farm.
Collett is gearing up for a busy weekend with rides in all four feature races at Randwick on Saturday, including Fierce Impact in the Group One Winx Stakes.
