Chad Schofield fails in appeal against ban

Wednesday 7 August 2013, 5:32pm

Chad Schofield's season hasn't started well with the premier apprentice failing in his appeal against his latest careless riding suspension.

Schofield missed Wednesday's Sandown meeting after the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board dismissed his appeal against a ban incurred last Friday at Geelong.

The young rider was replaced on his three rides at Sandown including Great Game who subsequently won the BMW Handicap (1300m) with Nick Hall aboard.

He will miss Saturday's Aurie's Star Handicap program as part of the 10 meeting ban but he will be free to return the following Saturday.

Schofield recently had an application to become a senior rider knocked back by Racing Victoria which ruled he must serve out the remaining 10 months of his apprenticeship despite not being able to claim a weight allowance.
