A final decision on whether Hay List takes his place in Saturday's Missile Stakes won't be made until race morning.
Randwick was posted in the heavy range on Thursday and trainer John McNair would prefer not to risk the outstanding sprinter on a bog track.
However, nothing has been ruled out and a discussion with Hay List's owners on Saturday morning will determine whether the outstanding sprinter runs.
"I will discuss it with the owners and we'll make a joint decision on Saturday morning," McNair said.
"With a heavy track comes an element of risk. Not only that but it's almost a free kick for Rain Affair, he is a wet track specialist.
"We're not in this to run second, we're in it to win."
McNair has also advised stewards that Hay List has had synthetic hoof filler applied to his off fore hoof.
The gelding will undergo a veterinary inspection when he arrives on course on Saturday.
"I've been in touch with stewards to tell them I've been dealing with a slight problem in one of his legs but that's nothing unusual for this horse," McNair said.
Hay List is second pick in early TAB markets at $4.60 behind dominant $1.80 favourite Rain Affair.
