Jamie Kah returns a winner on juvenile

Wednesday 23 September 2020, 3:08pm

Jamie Kah continued on her winning ways when she returned from a suspension with a victory on General Beau in the first Australian two-year-old race of the season, the Darley Spring Preview at Flemington.

It was her 22nd win for the season and her 12th in town where she leads the Melbourne jockeys' premiership.

Kah had the 900 metre sprint under control almost from the outset on the $2.70 favourite and he went on to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Finance Tycoon ($6.50) with three quarters of a length away to The Globe ($5).

Co-trainer Mat Ellerton said General Beau was a natural two-year-old and they would take advantage of that and back him up in the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes over 1000 metres on October 3.

"He's won his two jump outs and that's the quickest he's gone yet," Ellerton said.

"He's adept at the straight so we will see how he pulls up and look at Saturday week. He's a strong little horse."

Kah said General Beau won as easily as he did in his last jump out and that he had a brilliant attitude.

The Mike Moroney stable confirmed it is aiming three-year-old colt Poland, the winner of Wednesday's benchmark 64 for three-year-olds over 1400 metres, at the Caulfield Guineas.
