David Hayes-trained stablemates I Am Titanium and Churchill Dancer have underlined their Caulfield Guineas potential by running a quinella at Geelong on Wednesday.
Hayes opted not to run I Am Titanium on the heavy ground at Cranbourne on Sunday, preferring to send him out on the synthetic surface at Geelong when the meeting was transferred from Sandown.
It paid dividends with the colt's break-through win in the GRC Functions and Event Centre Handicap (1200m) on Wednesday by a length over his stablemate his first victory from four starts.
Considered good enough to have a crack at the Blue Diamond in the autumn, I Am Titanium is on the path to the Group One Caulfield Guineas along with Churchill Dancer.
"I Am Titanium is a good horse and is only going to get better," stable representative Bruno Rouge-Serret said.
"And Churchill Dancer went into the race without a trial and quite soft. Out of the two he'll probably take more benefit out of the race today.
"They are two very exciting three-year-olds and can go on and run in all those big races."
Churchill Dancer is at $41 for the Caulfield Guineas (1600m) while I Am Titanium is an $81 chance.
I Am Titanium was able to take a sit behind the two leaders in a small but competitive field and sprinted well to hit the front at the 200m mark as his stablemate was waiting for a run to appear.
Jockey Nick Hall said I Am Titanium was still inexperienced but would continue to improve.
The first-up performance of the Peter Moody-trained Soros in the Viatek Handicap (1300m) also indicated he was in for a good preparation after he swept around the field turning for home to stretch out to a 3-3/4 lengths win over Finishing Card.
"He's a nice horse and he has been placed to advantage," jockey Luke Nolen said.
"It was a nice kick-off to what is hopefully a fruitful preparation for him."
