Trainer Shea Eden will be chasing a breakthrough stakes win when he saddles up Zellindi in the Group Three Quezette Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.
Eden, 33, has been delighted with the progress the Listed placegetter has made since her autumn campaign, however the up-and-coming trainer admits recent wet weather has been an impediment to the filly's preparation for her first-up challenge.
Zellindi scored a metropolitan win at Moonee Valley at her second start in April then was denied her first stakes win by a nose in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1100m) in Adelaide.
The daughter of Bel Esprit impressed Eden in winning an 800m trial at Cranbourne in heavy conditions on Monday.
"I was really happy with her trial," Eden said.
"I'm probably just a week behind schedule due to the weather - it's been a frustrating time for everybody the last few weeks - but I'm really happy with where she is at."
Rated a $15 chance with TAB fixed odds in the Quezette Stakes (1100m), Zellindi takes on the likes of the Peter Moody-trained favourite Spirit Of Heaven ($3.80), Metastasio ($5.50), Kiss A Rose ($6), along with Montsegur and Swing Vote who are both at $9.
And she will have to overcome the outside barrier in the field of 13 with Nathan Rose in the saddle.
Eden remains optimistic despite her draw.
"I think on her work and the way she's really matured coming into this preparation, she'll acquit herself really well in that race on Saturday," Eden said.
