Two horses who disappointed David Payne with their last start performances will be given the chance to get their spring campaigns back on track at Rosehill.
Derby prospect Double Eagle was a little too eager to get the job done when he resumed with an even fourth over 1400m earlier this month.
The horse who won that race, Kirov, is again among his rivals in Saturday's Dooleys Handicap (1400m) but Double Eagle will have a 2.5kg weight turnaround.
"I thought he overraced last start and he will run much better this week," Payne said.
"He's going to go through to the Gloaming and the Spring Champion will be his mission in Sydney."
Beyond that, Payne has Victoria Derby aspirations for Double Eagle who has also been nominated for the Caulfield Guineas as a precaution.
Payne confirmed Lilliburlero would take her place in the Mounties Group Handicap (1400m).
The mare will back up from her fourth to Hidden Kisses at Randwick last week and will be suited on a firmer track.
"She got a bit too far out of her ground and the soft track didn't suit her," he said.
"She can only improve.
"She's tough. She's a big girl so the quick back-up won't worry her."
Queensland Derby placegetter Honorius will also be among Payne's Rosehill squad when he returns in the ClubsNSW Spring Preview (1400m).
The entire had three weeks in the paddock after the Derby and finished second in a recent barrier trial.
Payne isn't sure how Honorius will measure up against the better stayers but he does believe he can make an impact in the second and third tier races.
"I don't think the Brisbane form is as strong as the Sydney and Melbourne form but I just have to pick the right races for him," Payne said.
The short-term aims for Honorius will be the Premier's Cup (1800m) at Rosehill on August 31 and Group Three Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) at the same venue two weeks later.
