Allen has the key to Mishani Warrior

Trainer Les Ross believes apprentice Anthony Allen is the secret weapon behind the form surge of Mishani Warrior.

Allen has ridden the son of Show A Heart four times for three wins including his past two at the Sunshine Coast and Doomben.

"Anthony seems to have the key to him," Ross said.

"He's been riding him really good and they get on really well together. He just lets him settle back in the field and he charges to the line in the last 100 metres."

Mishani Warrior's past two wins have been on rain-affected going but Ross believes the five-year-old will be equally effective on a firmer surface in Saturday's C P Scott Plate (1350m) at Doomben.

Under Ross's care Mishani Warrior has started 10 times for five wins.

Ross has freshened Mishani Warrior and Cuddlesome, who will run in the Sequalo @ Lyndhurst Plate (1350m), in a deliberate ploy to target the set weights conditions of their respective races on Saturday.

"The plan was to tip them out in the paddock for a week after their last runs and bring them back for these races so the handicapper couldn't give them too much weight," he said.

At her last outing Cuddlesome was beaten a short neck by Next The Universe who confirmed the strength of the form by running a close second at Randwick last Saturday.

"Cuddlesome had 59kg last start and I'm sure it was the weight that stopped her," Ross said.

"She's had a lot of wide gates lately and it's good to see her come up with a better alley (six) this time and she's down one-and-a-half kilos.

"The dry track won't be a problem and she can run fast times. I'd be disappointed if she didn't run a good race."

Ross will be represented by Trilione and Shazzle Pazzle in The Good Guys Plate (1110m) and expects them to perform well.

"I'm just disappointed they had to clash," he said.

"I think Trilione's the better of the two. She's won nearly $140,000 in prize money and Shazzle Pazzle is only a class two filly who's won just over $30,000."

Ross says Trilione has tactical speed while he expects Shazzle Pazzle to settle back in the field and finish strongly.
