Trainer Peter Hulbert can point to the transformation of Hollywood Bound as proof of the effectiveness of the nose roll.
Since Hollywood Bound has raced in a nose roll he has shrugged off his reputation as a non-winner with victories at his past two starts at Doomben and Eagle Farm.
"A couple of jockeys were telling me in the last 100 metres of his races he was floating a bit and had a tendency to get his head up," Hulbert said.
"As soon as horses get their head up when they gallop it shortens their action. But with the nose roll on he gets his head back down and lengthens stride."
Hollwood Bound will attempt a hat-trick of wins in Saturday's Harry and Amelia Cahill Handicap (1600m) at Eagle Farm with Patrick Holmes aboard.
Hulbert says Holmes has also played an important role in the consistent recent form of Hollywood Bound.
"Paddy rode him the first time on a heavy track at Ballina a few runs back and after the race he said `I know he's run a placing in the wet but I'm telling you he's 10 lengths better than that'," Hulbert said.
"He rides him in a lot of his work and he says he hasn't gone backwards since his last run."
Hollywood Bound is having his ninth start this campaign but Hulbert can't fault his condition.
"I think he might be a fair horse and I only want to give him one or two more runs this prep then tip him out," he said.
An interstate campaign is on the agenda for Hollywood Bound in his next preparation.
"I don't want to do it now when he's getting to the end of his campaign," he said.
"If we go to Sydney we do it right. You don't do it on the way down, you do it when you're on the way up."
Hulbert is also keen on the chances of Will's Choice in the Kendrick Racing Handicap.
Will's Choice ran ninth at Eagle Farm on August 10 after being caught three wide but Hulbert has forecast an improved performance on Saturday after the colt drew barrier one.
